Just a small update about what’s been going on lately!
Potential Opportunities?
I’m not gonna say too much because everything is still very tentative, but I may have some big news to share soon! I’m a bit nervous because it could mean a lot of changes that I’m not sure I’m very prepared for, but it’s something I’m looking forward to nevertheless! Please send positive energy and wish me luck everyone!
Another cool thing I’m working on is a library program where we’d set up a donation box of necessary supplies in our library that we’ll give to our local free store and foodbank. It’s in an early stages, but I’m currently working with my manager to get everything set up. I’m hoping to gather things like can openers, utensils, sanitary products, scissors, etc. The emphasis here to to get things that people don’t typically donate but are extremely essential. People always donate cans, but not can openers to open them y’know? So hopefully that’ll get up and running soon!
Momocon Prep
Soooo, I’ll be going to momocon!! It’s about 6 weeks away at this point but I still have so much to do ahhh. I have cosplays to prepare, outfits to plan and accommodations still need to be figured out. BUT, at least I have my ticket lol. I’m def just working on vibes and the optimism that I can and will get everything together in time.
A lot of people have been asking about my cosplay lineup and it’s honestly something I’m keeping a secret until the con. It’s nothing crazy or super spectacular, but this is just something I want to keep to myself, no pressure nor expectations. I can work at my own pace and do things as I like without the thoughts and opinions of others. This decision has been very peaceful and like good for my own mental. I’m not thinking about what others are thinking or doing, just focusing solely on my own thing, which is nice. Hopefully, I get to see so many of you at Momocon this year! Let’s take lots of pictures together!
Reading Updates
So I’ve just finished ‘The Daughter of Doctor Moreau’ by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, which is a latine retelling of the original story of ‘The Island of Doctor Moreau’ by H. G. Wells. This is the second book by Moreno-Garcia that I’ve read within the past 30 days and I think I’m becoming a fan of hers. I also read her book ‘Mexican Gothic’ which I LOVED, and it’s more in the magical-realism realm of story telling, which I know many people don’t care for, but it’s a genre that I’m a lil obsessed with!
‘Mexican Gothic’ is about a young socialite, Noemi, who travels to a small Mexican town to check on her cousin who has been quite distant and sickly after moving away to live with her new husband and his family. Arriving to the decrepit manor known as The High Place, Noemi is both entranced and disturbed by her in laws, as she finds herself entangled in their secrets and dark allure. It’s a book I totally recommend and if you choose to check out the book, please feel free to tell me your thoughts and opinions!
In terms of Manga, I’ve been working my way through ‘Fist of the North Star’. Y’all. Y’ALL. It’s so good. I love this series and I will be buying the physicals. I feel for me I was hooked in the beginning, but as I kept going I was kinda in a slump after a few arcs. BUT WE ARE SO BACK BABY. These past few arcs and fights have been so cool and monumental to the plot. I’ve made a few posts detailing my thoughts and feelings more extensively on socials that I may link on here, but just know, I really like this series and I can’t wait to see how it ends.

Sooooo…
That’s pretty much what I’ve been up to! Not too much to report here but sometimes that’s how the cookie crumbles. I think things will really start to ramp up more next month and things will get more exciting I think. Is there anything else?? I’ve been playing a ton of Stardew Valley ever since the update dropped, I watched and completed XXXholic, which is an anime by CLAMP, and I started the show Reacher that I’m enjoying as well. Other than that, I guess this is where I sign off. Til next time!
